Vote For Gabe

I am an animal lover,
I found a true love and friendship in an animal's heart.
I am a dog owner, pack leader and a dog lover.
But,
I love working dogs (or other working animals) even more,
Because they do the best they could for our (human) sake.

I also have a very special place for Military Working Dogs,
due to my husband being in the military, my love for working dogs and what I learned about them and their sacrifices to save a lot of lives.

Today,
I dedicate this blog entry for GABE!
He is a  Specialized Search Dog.

Gabe is a yellow lab who came from a pound in Houston, TX where the military adopted and then trained him.

Gabe started his duty in 2006 when he deployed to Iraq. He was fortunate enough to work with some truly amazing soldiers. His job was to find hidden guns and explosives and to help keep our soldiers safe. While deployed, he completed over 210 combat missions with 26 finds of explosives and weapons.

He also visited wounded troops in combat hospitals and visited children in elementary schools.
Gabe and his (human) dad continue to educate children about respect and the importance of staying in school and they hope to represent the Military Police is a very positive way for years to come.

Gabe and his handler, friend, dad, Charles Shuck.

He was selected as the American Kennel Club Heroic Military Working Dog in 2008 and was the runner up in the military category for the 2011 Hero Dog Award. He retired in 2009 after a very distinguished career earning over 40 awards and coins of excellence for his work.

Gabe is competing for the United States War Dog Association, Inc., a nonprofit organization of former and current U.S. Military Dog handlers and supporting members committed to promoting the long history of the Military Service Dogs, establishing permanent War Dog Memorials, and educating the public about the invaluable service of these dogs to our country.

I am content, therefore I am rich!

"He is rich who is content with the least; for contentment is the wealth of nature."
-Socrates-

There are times in life when we do not appreciate what we have in the present moments because we want something more in life, which is not totally wrong, ambition is a good thing when it is balanced with wisdom. It becomes wrong when we want something more in life turned into ungratefulness, complaining and do nothing about it, comparing and blaming others for your own "I want what they have" moments.

If you spend a lot of time talking to old people, you will be amazed at how content their lives are all about by just having a new oxygen to breath, someone to call, meal on the table and newspaper. It is the simple thing in life that most of us forget most of the time, because we already have it, therefore those simple things in life lost their value

We get use to it and we thought it is no big deal, everyone has it, right? WRONG!

Water..we live in a country where you could drink water directly from the sink faucet, in some countries you must boiled the water first then wait for it to cool down then you could drink it. In some countries, you must walk for miles just to get water, unhealthy dirty water, and when you found it for maybe a bucket, you must walk back to your house for miles, then boiled them, then wait to drink the water that is not even clean after you boiled them. You could still taste the dirt in your mouth!
We have water in a very easy and comfortable way right in front of our eyes. Not everyone has it the way we have our water.

Water is just an example, simple yet we need them so badly in our lives because we could survive without food but not without water.

My point is we take everyday things that we have for granted because we think that is not important, everyone has it anyway. But it is the most important thing in life that we have, we forget the value and nope.. not everyone has it in life.

These days everything seems so fast and advanced. Technology, beauty industry, social media, etc, that makes us want more in life. Things that we do not necessary need in life yet it becomes our standard of happiness, value, social life, beauty, satisfaction, rich or poor, etc.

You will be fine without your phone, but you will die without water!

Learn from an animal, who is content and praising God when they have food to eat, water to drink, place to sleep or hang out (may it be a filthy ground, a cave, a tree).
My dog is at his happiest moment when he sees me come home from work, everyday! His joy never drained..always so excited and thankful to see me home, appreciates me to the max and do all of his tricks just to make me happy.
Are you that happy when your mom and dad comes home from a hard day at work? Did you hug them or tell them you appreciate their hard work for you?
When was the last time you appreciate your spouse or children or food/water on your table or jobs or kind neighbor?
Little things in life that we have, we forget the value, yet it is important!

You never know until you lost them!

A week ago, AT&T U-Verse was having problems in my area and they never have any problem until that day. My Internet, TV and phone were down. I had never feel so sad in my life hahhha..you never know how much you depended your happiness on technology until that kind of things happened. It was only for 24 hours, but oh my gosh..I was on my ninja mode. I tried to be Mac Gyver to Steve Jobs all at once, I tried to fixed the internet, phone and TV. When every attempt does not work, I called the company and they told me that the problem was with their company and they are trying to fixed it.
It was the longest 24 hours of my life and the worst part is my husband is out of town and I could not reach him due to his job in the military.
The next morning I woke up and see my TV, Internet and phone working again was like experiencing miracles in life. You should have seen my face and the words of thankfulness flowing out of my mouth LOL. OK, I exaggerate a little but the point is I was very happy!

It goes the same thing with people, you never know until you lose them to death or occasion in life.

Enjoy what you have now in life, be thankful and proud of yourself for having those things and people in your life. Not everyone has it the way we do, so complaining and comparing, especially do nothing in between, is not good for your own sanity :)

There will always be someone prettier, richer, smarter, better than you. But, God did not create you to be him or her. You are created to be yourself with purposes that made specifically for you. You might not have it now, but you do not know what the future holds for you.
There are things/people that you might never have, so why not enjoy with what you actually have and could have in life.

I always value and respect those who earn what they have by working with their own hands. I love diligent people, I hate lazy people. Live a life that is worth living for with a grateful heart. It is easier to say it than to actually living it, especially when you know people who get it very easy in life and you have to work so hard to get certain things in life. But, hating those who has it the "easy" way will only make your life harder and who needs that in life, right?
We might as well enjoy what we have, who knows what tomorrow holds for us?
:)

I am content, therefore I am rich.

Things will never satisfy your needs, your heart's gratitude toward those things that will satisfy you. If you are greedy or never feel content, then you have a miserable life. You cannot keep up with everything, you cannot have everything, so don't beat yourself up!

KOKO, the Gorilla

Have you heard of Koko, the gorilla? I was browsing some videos in YouTube and found some videos of Koko. She is a genius gorilla, so cute and a fast learner. I also admire the people who taught her everything she know with dedication, passion, patient and love. I do not believe in evolution, but I do believe in God who created everything beautiful. Koko is one of His masterpiece and human has the ability to teach animals and to care for them.

"A righteous man cares for the needs of his animal, but the kindest acts of the wicked are cruel."
Proverbs 12:10

"Koko (born July 4, 1971) is a female gorilla who, according to Francine "Penny" Patterson, is able to understand more than 1,000 signs based on American Sign Language, and understand approximately 2,000 words of spoken English.
As with other ape language experiments, the degree to which Koko masters these signs has been controversial, as has been the degree to which such mastery demonstrates language abilities.
Koko was born at San Francisco Zoo and has lived most of her life in Woodside, California, although a move to a sanctuary on Maui, Hawaii, has been planned since the 1990s. Koko is short for the name Hanabiko (花火子 lit. "fireworks child"?)in Japanese, a reference to her date of birth, the Fourth of July.
Although not unique, Koko is one of the few non-humans known to keep pets. She has cared for several cats over the years and Koko's relationship with All Ball was featured in the 1987 book Koko's Kitten (Scholastic Press, ISBN 0-590-44425-5), which was written by Patterson. In the book, Patterson reported that in the summer of 1984 Koko asked her for a cat. Koko selected a gray male Manx from a litter of abandoned kittens and named him "All Ball". This breed is unusual in that it has no tail. Patterson wondered whether that influenced Koko's choice. Patterson wrote that Koko cared for the kitten as if it were a baby gorilla.
In December of that same year, All Ball escaped from Koko's cage and was hit and killed by a car. Later, Patterson said that when she signed to Koko that All Ball had gone, Koko signed "Bad, sad, bad" and "Frown, cry, frown, sad". Patterson also reported later hearing Koko making a sound similar to human weeping. Drawing upon this incident, Patterson argues that non-human species can have human-like emotions.
In 1985, Koko was allowed to pick out two new kittens from a litter to be her companions. The animals she chose, later named "Lipstick" and "Smokey", were also Manxes like All Ball.
Though he was not a pet of Koko's in the same way her cats were, the Gorilla Foundation also briefly played home to a male green-winged macaw of mysterious origin who had been found inhabiting the grounds and feeding on the loquat trees. Initially frightened of the parrot, Koko named him "Devil Tooth", "devil" presumably coming from his being mostly red, and "tooth" for his fierce-looking white beak; the human staff adjusted the name to "Devil Beak", and ultimately to "DB". (Personal communication)"

Have you seen the movie, "Rise of the planet of the Apes?", I thought only in a movie that an ape could learn the sign language and all, but Koko proved me wrong. I think Koko inspired that movie because its location is in San Francisco and Koko was born in San Francisco Zoo LOL.
Speaking of San Francisco Zoo, I visited the San Francisco's Zoo last Sunday and I was actually disappointed. The Zoo is big and clean, but there were not a lot of animals to see, most of the big cats were hiding and those animals looked lonely and sad.

Yours Truly in SF Zoo lol

Anyway, please Google about Koko and you will be amazed of this beautiful creature. These are some of her videos that I love but she has a lot more videos in YouTube, please check her out and help spreading the word of how to teach and love the animals. They deserved our help, care and love!

P.S  6:27, I do not believe in Evolution, just to be clear lol, I do believe in God's creation :)

Save the gorillas

Happy Earth Day!

Happy Earth Day Everyone and Everything!
God is a creative creator and artist,
He created this beautiful earth and told us to take good care of it,
Therefor..
We must do so in our everyday lives.

"In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth."
Genesis 1:1

"It is I who by my great power and my outstretched arm have made the earth, with the men and animals that are on the earth, and I give it to whomever it seems right to me."
(Jeremiah 27:5)

"God made the wild animals according to their kinds, the livestock according to their kinds, and all the creatures that move along the ground according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good."
(Genesis 1:25)

"And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.
(Genesis 1:28)

God trusted us to take care of the earth and not destroying it.
Yes, we need food and water and God provides it all for us through the earth.
He also gives us a brain and creativity to use the earth properly.
Understand that you are not the only one who is on this earth!
There are other people, present and the future generation to come,
Animals, plants, and etc.
Use wisely.
Be a good steward of anything that God entrusted us!

"The earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof, the world and those who dwell therein,"
(Psalm 24:1)

So, make no mistake!
God entrusted us this earth
(Thank You God),
But
HE IS STILL THE OWNER.
 -----------------------------
"And the Lord said, “Who then is the faithful and wise manager, whom his master will set over his household, to give them their portion of food at the proper time? Blessed is that servant whom his master will find so doing when he comes. Truly, I say to you, he will set him over all his possessions.  But if that servant says to himself, ‘My master is delayed in coming,’ and begins to beat the male and female servants, and to eat and drink and get drunk, the master of that servant will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour he does not know, and will cut him in pieces and put him with the unfaithful."
(Luke 12:42-46)
 -----------------------------

Everything that we have now comes from those before us.
Be thankful and be a good steward so that your children will enjoy the earth.
Create, enjoy, planted, and use everything on this earth with great responsibility and love.
Take good care of your body and those around you, including the animals and other living creatures that God created to be our source of food, companion, worker, etc.
LOVE them, not abusing them and taking advantage of their well being.
There are a lot of things that we could do to love and celebrate the earth daily.
Eat right, recycle, use water and electricity according to your needs, save, clean up, create, share, help others in need!

XOXO EARTH,
Lindsay
