Curiosity Has Landed!

Mars Science Laboratory (MSL) is a robotic space probe mission to Mars launched by NASA on November 26, 2011, which successfully landed Curiosity, a Mars rover, in Gale Crater on August 6, 2012 at 05:14:39 UTC. The Curiosity rover's objectives include determining Mars's habitability, studying its climate and exogeology, and collecting data for future human missions. The rover carries a variety of scientific instruments designed by an international team.

This is the first image taken by NASA's Curiosity rover,
which landed on Mars the evening of Aug. 5 PDT (morning of Aug. 6 EDT).
It was taken through a "fisheye" wide-angle lens on one of the rover's front left Hazard-Avoidance cameras at one-quarter of full resolution.

The clear dust cover on the camera is still on in this view, and dust can be seen around its edge, along with three cover fasteners. The rover's shadow is visible in the foreground.

As planned, the rover's early engineering images are lower resolution. Larger color images are expected later in the week when the rover's mast, carrying high-resolution cameras, is deployed.

Hachiko

I only write things that matters to me, inspires me, motivates me and memorable as well. Those who knows me also know my love for animal, especially dogs.

Last night I watched the movie "Hachi: A Dog's Tale" and it makes me cry like I just lost a best friend. I knew about the movie for a long time because I knew the story behind it, but I try to avoid watching it because I know I would cry, LOL!

I am such a cry baby when it comes to dogs and their loyalty, even though I am not a crying type. This story touched my heart because it shows me that a dog has the biggest heart when it comes to love their human. They are loyal, protective, playful and the amount of love they have for us is unlimited.

Human tend to say something to us and think something else about us on their heart/mind. But, dogs will show us as it is. They don't like you, they will show it. They like you, they will show it as well. They also know if you are a bad person or a good one, they could feel your inner human LOL. They are an honest and bright creature. They would still love us, regardless of who and what we are as a human being.

The story of Hachiko is an amazing story. But you know what? every dog has an amazing story and a spot of loyalty in them, you just need to figure it out.

My dog, Luke, for example, would wait in front of the door every single day when my husband is away on his military duty. When he goes to the office, Luke does not wait in front of the door like that, he only wait when my husband is out of town (he knows lol). When we go on vacations, our dog's sitters would tell us that Luke waited in front of their doors for us to come back and avoid eating for at least two days. Luke will wait for our return every day and night on the front door. That's the kind of loyalty Luke shows to our family ever since we adopted him from Petco.

My old family dog, Bruno, was stolen, on three days the dog came back still with the chain on his neck. He was fighting for his life and he came back to his family's home. I will never forget that day!

My other dog (I have TONS of dogs lol), Benji , is a super mellow and smart dog. One day my uncle borrowed him and took him to his house and the next day Benji was gone. The poor old dog came back to us because he did not know that my uncle was just borrowing him for a week. He came back, all the way from my uncle's house to our house, which is very far to walk.

I have a lot of stories about loyalty of my own dogs, because I have owned so many dogs and cats as well. Google some more stories about "Loyal Dogs" and you will be surprised to see the remarkable stories of their loyalty, dedication and love for their human.

Please adopt a dog today, save their lives before they are put to death and lost their purposes on earth. There are a lot of dogs who get saved from the street, shelter, adoption agencies and these dogs turned into heroes. One of them is Gabe (remember my post about him on here?), speaking of Gabe, please vote for him again until October, click here to vote

There are a lot of dogs who saved their owners from death, bombs, accident, snake bites, fire, sickness,  loneliness, depression, even suicide by just being a good companion. There are a lot of working dogs (military, police, service, therapy dogs) who are working their tails off just to save our lives when we go to a movie theater, ball games, airport, school, office, supermarket, and the list goes on.

If you are thinking of giving up your dog, please think again. Even if you must do so, please give your dog to a dog lover people, not a killing shelter. They did not do anything to deserve this. You might not like them or could not train them, but there are other people who will love them and train these dogs.

Meet Hachiko
(November 10, 1923 – March 8, 1935)

File:Hachiko.JPG
Hachiko was an Akita dog born on a farm near the city of Ōdate, Akita Prefecture.
In 1924, Hidesaburō Ueno, a professor in the agriculture department at the University of Tokyo, took in Hachikō, a golden brown Akita, as a pet.

During his owner's life, Hachikō greeted him at the end of each day at the nearby Shibuya Station. The pair continued their daily routine until May 1925, when Professor Ueno did not return. The professor had suffered from a cerebral hemorrhage and died, never returning to the train station where Hachikō was waiting. Every day for the next nine years the dog waited at Shibuya station.

Hachikō attracted the attention of other commuters. Many of the people who frequented the Shibuya train station had seen Hachikō and Professor Ueno together each day. Initial reactions from the people, especially from those working at the station, were not necessarily friendly. However, after the first appearance of the article about him on October 4, 1932 in Asahi Shimbun, people started to bring Hachikō treats and food to nourish him during his wait. This continued for nine years with Hachikō appearing precisely when the train was due at the station.

File:Hachiko funeral.jpg
Hachikō died on March 8, 1935, and was found on a street in Shibuya. In March 2011 scientists settled the cause of death of Hachikō: the dog had terminal cancer and a filaria infection (worms). There were also four yakitori skewers in Hachikō's stomach, but the skewers did not damage his stomach or cause his death.

Hachiko is remembered for his remarkable loyalty to his owner, even many years after his owner's death.
(Source/More of Hachiko's stories are in his Wikipedia)

"True Friendship isn't being inseparable, it's being separated and nothing changes"

Hug a dog today, make sure they know you will always be there for them because they already swear to God that they will always be there for you through thick and thin, life and death.

I Can Do It

These athletes inspired me this week.
I am motivated because if they could do something great for themselves, their team mates,
their country (and God),
then I can do it too!

I might not be an Olympian,
but I could do something good for my body.
I could be an inspiration to/for myself, my family, my friends or strangers :)

Best of the best? Michael Phelps kisses his 19th Olympic medal
Congratulations Michael Phelps.

The American swimmer became "The Most Decorated Olympian" on day four after winning his 19th medal with gold in the men's 4x200m freestyle relay.

I love his dedication, determination, the way he swims just amazed me.
Well Michael, all of those hard work paid off. He had his down moments in life, but he get back up!
I am very happy for him to reach his goals and more in life. It is a great accomplishment and I wish him the best!

Congratulations Gabby Douglas

She is the first African-American woman and first woman of color to win the event. She is also the first American gymnast ever to win both the team and individual all-around gold at the same Olympics.

I love this girl!
She is very humble, beautiful, down to earth and such a strong woman; physically, mentally and spiritually.
I admire her hard work (and her family's sacrifices as well),
I especially admired her faith and humility before God!
A young and bright woman who won gold, a history maker, did the best she could to win, yet she never forget to thank God, unashamed and joyfully serving her creator!
Bravo Gabby!

He is a 35-year-old from Niger, only learnt how to row three months ago
but was given a wildcard to the London Olympics "to strengthen the principle of universal representation."

This man did not finish first, in fact he finished last. But he finished what he started and he did the best he could.

He finished his race strong.

Sometimes winning is not the biggest word of the day, but trying is the word of the day.
The problem with people these days is that we wanted to make everything instant and perfect.
We want to win, which is a great goal, but many times, we did not win what we want.
What are you gonna do? Quit? Blame yourself or others? Hating your life?
OR
You could keep trying, training, find new strategy, and loving life!

What I learned from these three athletes this week:
Faith, Determination, Hard Work and Finish Strong!

Lindsay

Pain and Gain

God is faithful, true and good for generations.

He never leaves us alone.

We are not forsaken nor forgotten.

He hears our prayers and understands our pain.

He is our strong tower, our rock, salvation and hope.

There are things that are just beyond our control and understanding,

all we could do is trusting God to do the best in our lives.

Whatever happened, will happened in His time and permission.

Nothing will occur in my life without God knowing it, fighting for me

and shielding me with His mighty power.

I am weak, He is strong.

I am limited, He is unlimited.

I am not perfect, He is perfect.

I face storms, He calms them down.

I am forever grateful for every pain and gain in my life,

for my God is with me

until the end

Jeremiah 29:11-13
"For I know the plans I have for you,
 declares the Lord,
plans for welfare and not for evil,
to give you a future and a hope.
Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me,
and I will hear you.
You will seek me and find me,
when you seek me with all your heart."

100 Miles

August is my birthday month,
I am going to give myself a birthday present by doing this "100 Miles Challenge."
A friend of mine did that on July and I am doing this on August.

First Day (7.10 Miles) yeah baby!!

Basically,
I will run, swim, bike, hike for a total of (at least) 100 Miles this month.
It is not too much if you start it now!

My fitness level has been up and down this year,
So I am determined to start living healthy again.
I just love the feeling of a healthy body,
the energy level, the good mood, the confidence, the toned muscle, the sharp mind, the strength, the joy of wearing skinny jeans ;)

I am not into "skinny to the bone"-unhealthy- body type,
I am into athletic healthy body!

We have one life, one body, one soul to take care of now,
So we better take very good care of it.

When it comes to working out,
Do what you love to do,
What works for you!

The first step is always the hardest,
Do one step at a time,
Once your body tastes the beauty of being healthy,
Your body will beg you for more challenge.

Educate yourself,
ask your personal Doctor or
ask those who are experts in working out,
hired a trainer if needed,
enroll into a gym,
or use nature as a free and useful place, equipment and tools!

I like working out by myself,
(sometimes I run with my husband and my dog)
but I love support group to lift me up when I am lazy or lose focus.
Find your work out buddy (if you like to do it with others),
Build a support system/group that works for and with your lifestyle,
including telling your spouse to support you in this journey.

Nourish your body with good foods
(healthy food does not mean taste bad),
Give yourself a rest (and treats occasionally lol),
Enjoy life by doing things that you love,
Find a balance in life to fulfilled a better-healthier-happier-life.

Life is God's gift to me,
What I do with my life is my responsibility.

If you do not like what  you see or how it makes you feel,
Do something to change it,
Because excuses, complaining, pity party, blame game and comparing
will never do you any good or progress.

You Got Mail!

We got a "Thank You" letters from these two wonderful organizations,
Operation Letters of Love and Operation Letters From Home.
They are not affiliated with each other,
But their mission is pretty much the same,
Which is to send and provide handwritten, personal letters to military members, veterans, and families of the fallen. They are showing appreciation, love and respect to those who served, are serving and their family.

We want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

Keep up the great work and may God bless you!
